Denji finishes the Bat Devil and pulls Power and Meowy from its remains. Power, surprised that he fought so fiercely after her betrayal, agrees to honor the reward she promised. Before they can leave, the Leech Devil appears, mourning the Bat Devil and attacking Denji. It severs his arm and threatens civilians while mocking the modest dreams that drive him. Blood loss prevents Denji from completing his transformation, leaving him with only a small chainsaw protruding from his head, but he continues fighting and manages to injure the much larger Devil. The Leech Devil eventually overwhelms him. Aki arrives before the killing blow and summons the Fox Devil, which devours the attacker. After a blood transfusion restores Denji and allows doctors to reattach his arm, Aki explains that Devil contracts require payment; using the Fox Devil costs him part of his body. Aki could recommend that both Denji and Power be destroyed for disobedience, but he offers to protect them if Denji follows his rules. Denji agrees, and Makima approves. Power and Meowy move into Aki's apartment, creating immediate domestic chaos. That night, Power privately tells Denji he may claim his promised reward.
